Are you looking to relieve your pain lastingly, without putting your body under strain? A thermal spa cure is a recognised solution, supervised by doctors and partly reimbursed.

What is it? An 18-day medical stay in an approved establishment. You receive around 72 tailored treatments (baths, mud wraps, exercises in water). This is not simply a relaxing break: it is a genuine treatment prescribed by your doctor.

Why is it good for you?

Joints and osteoarthritis: less pain, less medication.

Mobility: the water supports you, so moving becomes easier.

Sleep and morale: deep relaxation and better nights.

Which conditions? Mainly rheumatism and osteoarthritis (80% of spa patients), but also respiratory, circulatory and digestive disorders.

How does it work?

Your GP writes a prescription.

The French health insurance system (Assurance Maladie) gives its approval.

You spend 3 weeks at a spa town, with treatments every morning and free afternoons.

Reimbursement: treatments are covered at 65%, consultations at 70%. Subject to income conditions, travel and accommodation may also be supported.

Good to know: a thermal spa cure is a reimbursed medical treatment. Thalassotherapy (seawater, well-being) remains at your own expense.

Our advice: choose a spa town suited to your condition, easy to reach and comfortable. Plan your paperwork ahead so you can give your body this restorative break. Your independence and your well-being are well worth it.
