Sweetness and creativity were the order of the day this Thursday at La Résidence OBEO du Cannet, where a much-awaited baking contest brought our residents’ hidden talents into the spotlight.

The theme? To bake “the best cake”. And it has to be said that our residents truly rose to the occasion, turning the common room into a genuine patisserie of the highest order.
Across the tables, a delicious parade of homemade desserts dazzled the eyes and set taste buds tingling. From fluffy sponge cakes to fruit tarts and chocolate creations, the variety and the care put into every entry impressed everyone present.
The highlight of the event was without question the tasting and the verdict, presided over by a very special judge: our head chef. Each cake was assessed against strict criteria: taste, originality, texture and presentation.
After careful deliberation, it was ultimately the “Raspberry Bavarois” that took first place, winning over the judges with its perfect balance, its silky texture and its burst of red fruit. A victory made all the more symbolic by the fact that this indulgent dessert was made by… the daughter of one of our residents!
“It’s a lovely surprise and a great source of pride,” said the winner. “I wanted to create a cake that was both light and full of flavour, one that brings back the treats of childhood. Taking part in this event with my mother was a precious moment.”
Far more than a simple contest, this initiative proved a wonderful way to build intergenerational bonds and a spirit of sharing. It showed once again that a passion for cooking and the pleasure of making others happy know no age.
Congratulations to our winner, a big bravo to all the participants for their wonderful commitment, and thank you to our chef for his expertise and discerning eye.
The next edition is already in the diary, and there is no doubt the talent will be out in force once again!
