It was no ordinary day at the Fréjus residence. The afternoon was marked by an event as elegant as it was warm: a private jazz concert, offered to our residents. Far from the bustle of daily life, music took over our lounge, turning the space into a truly intimate concert hall.
A musical journey into the heart of swing
From the very first notes, the mood shifted. The soft melodies of the saxophone and the driving rhythm of the double bass drew everyone into a hushed, sophisticated atmosphere. The carefully chosen repertoire took residents from New Orleans jazz classics to more modern standards, reminding some of their younger years and their memories of dance halls.
Emotion on every face
The music was beautiful, but it was the residents’ faces that truly lit up the room. Comfortably settled in, many closed their eyes to savour each note, while others tapped their feet in time or quietly hummed along.
“It had been so long since I last heard live music this good. You feel carried away, it was wonderful.” one resident told us, her eyes still bright with emotion.
A moment of sharing and togetherness
Beyond the performance itself, the afternoon was a genuine moment of shared life. After the concert, conversation flowed over afternoon tea, extending the magic of the moment. This jazz concert will stay in our memories as one of those “suspended moments” that make life so precious.
